Hello!

I’m Cara Cooper, a registered dental hygienist, and orofacial myofunctional therapist based in Tucson, Arizona. I have practiced clinical dental hygiene for the last 14 years, which is what led me to learn more about myofunctional therapy and the effects it could have on oral and whole-body health.

My Story

While completing my training as a myofunctional therapist I identified my own tongue-tie and orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMD’s) that were never diagnosed by other practitioners.

As a teen, I went through retractive orthodontics and wisdom teeth extraction. As an adult, I needed treatment for TMJ disorder, and suffered from neck and shoulder pain, headaches, poor sleep, and digestive issues. Over the years, I grew frustrated because no matter how many different therapies I tried, I continued to experience pain and discomfort.

Discovering myofunctional therapy was a life-changing experience for me! I had a functional frenuloplasty by a fantastic airway dentist and completed my own myofunctional therapy program. As I regained proper oral rest posture and muscle function, I noticed improvements in my symptoms; my migraines resolved, I started sleeping without clenching or grinding (I haven’t worn a night guard in over two years), my tension relaxed and my posture improved (which helped ease my neck and back pain), and my digestion is so much better! I have even noticed the lines on my face have softened - that’s just aesthetics, but in a world where women will spend thousands on wrinkle treatments, I’ll take the natural remedy!

Because of the relief I found, in 2021 I started my own practice so I could bring the same life-changing therapy to my clients, and educate other practitioners on the importance that oral health plays in whole-body health.

My goal is to help my clients not just survive, but THRIVE!

~Cara
